Wiz Khalifa is like the 2010 version of Snoop Dogg. Check out the side by side comparison on Black & Yellow (the G-Mix) ft Snoop Dogg, Juicy J and T-Pain

So what are the similarities?  Both have silky smooth, sing-song flows (say that 5 times fast), are tall and lanky, are super laid-back, are eminently likeable and each have a well-documented love for the medicinal herb.  If that’s not enough, a picture is worth a thousand words:

Here’s some new music from Uncle Snoop Dogg ft Hustle Boys, who sound like the 2010 version of Tha Dogg Pound. The video is called For the Good Times.

This one looks like it was funded by Landy cognac but the music is cool, so it’s all good.

Check the comparison to Tha Dogg Pound:

The West Side is making a long-awaited comeback.

The good Dr. Dre dropped Kush after an 11-year absence and it was like he was never gone (in the best possible way). Now here’s the video.

Snoop also hasn’t sounded this dope in years.  What is it about Dre beats that brings out the best in him?

Uncle Snoop Dogg could be clocking more than $5,000 per Tweet from Toyota.

“They used to think I was a nerd,” says hip hop artist Chamillionaire, “when we used to do live shows on my website, back in the day.” The time Chamillionaire, aka Hakeem Seriki, refers to is around that of the early “oughts,” when the Web was still a fledgling entity, nowhere near what it is now to the consumer masses.Today is a very different day. Chamillionaire–and rappers like him–are bolstering their careers through successful navigation of the tech and social media world…Chamillionaire draws a curious comparison to explain his presence in the world of tech. He likens the career path of a young Silicon Valley entrepreneur to that of the unsigned rapper: Both tirelessly promote themselves, both seek capital to cover overhead costs, both often self-fund for a period of time and seek to be acquired by a larger entity (be it a Google or a Capitol Records).  Click here to read the full article at Forbes.com.  Also, click here to see their list of hip-hop’s most tech-savvy artists.

Could Detox really be about to drop? The good Dr. Dre just dropped his first new single in 11 years. Check out Kush ft Snoop Dogg and Akon

Click here to download.  If Detox drops in 2010, I challenge ANYONE to name a better year in hip-hop.  This year has brought dope albums from Drake, Jeezy, The Roots, Bun B, Rick Ross, Big Boi, B.o.B., Kanye (coming soon), Nicki (coming soon), Black Milk, Nottz, Lil Wayne…oh…and EMINEM.  C’mon son!

Wiz Khalifa is always good for some smooth gangsta sh*t. In my car is the latest.

Ever notice Wiz kinda sounds like Snoop having a dream that he had Wale’s voice?  Check out In My Car (Tha Puff Bus) ft. Juicy.

Speaking of new G-Funk, check out Nottz’ Never Caught Slippin’ ft Snoop Dogg and Royce Da 5’9. This is 3 generations of spitters.

Royce has always been one of the most underrated MCs out there.  His subject matter was always more commercial than that of Slum Village but obviously much less so than Eminem.  Somehow, he got lost in the shuffle.  Newcomer Nottz is the latest (along with Black Milk) to hold it down for Detroit which has had quite the resurgence this year.  Check out Never Caught Slippin’.  His album You Need This Music drops on 10/19.

Here’s one of Royce’s dope back in the day joints produced by DJ Premier that probably made Omar Akil salivate:

Speaking of great Snoop Dogg classics, check out John Legend and The Roots’ take on Little Ghetto Boy.

This one is off the full album collabo between John Legend and The Roots that will be dropping on 9/21.  The album is all covers of soul classics from the 60s and 70s that have a political theme.
